Progressive Approach to Repairing and Replacing our Infrastructure/ Enviromental Hazards
Many of our roads and infrastructures have not been properly maintain since the 1980’s, unfairly ignored in low income communities, additionally our bridges and highways are out of compliance. Maryland’s roads costs each driver approximately $550 per year, 5.8% of our bridges are rated structurally deficient. Just recently our drinking water was found to have 6 contaminants above the legal health guidelines that are cancer causing agents. Additionally 9 other contaminants that are harmful to our bodies have also been found in our water. That is unacceptable and shameful! Currently our needs to correct this in Maryland are an estimated $6.9 billion, waste water needs a total of $9.92 billion and 82 dams are considered to be high-hazard potentials.
